Karen's back and we've been cleaning up the stye that I let the apartment become in her absence.

I'm quite excited because tomorrow I'm starting a two week training course on website development with JSP and Java -- whooe, cool eh?

Karen coming home tomorrow -- Yeah!!

-----------

Other news, Kobori-san, my friend at work called the gas company for me and got the gas turned back on. They wanted me to go down to the office and pay the outstanding bill before they turned the gas back on, but she convinced them that I was just some poor, ignorant foreigner who needed his gas, who was sorry, and who wouldn't let it happen again. So, they said okay, turned the gas back on that night, and sent her a new bill for me to pay.

Great stuff. Anybody who says the Japanese are no good to foreigners doesn't know what they're talking about. People are very understanding here. Can you imagine what your gas company in Canada or the US would say if your friend called them up and said that you didn't pay your bill because you couldn't read or speak English -- "Tough luck", I'd imagine.

So, I came home the other night, put my bag down, took off my shirt and went into the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee. I put the kettle on the range, turned on the burner...and...nothing. NOTHING. No gas. The gas company had disconnected us.

I'm not positive, but I think this must have happened because someone in my family, I'm not saying who, but it wasn't me, and my wife and I don't have any kids yet, forgot to pay the gas bill.

Suffice it to say that I've been microwaving everything and doing without hot showers.

I've been going to Blue Martini JSP page-making seminars all week. I thought that I was the wild one in the family.

Meanwhile, my (pregnant) wife is back home in Vancouver whooping it up Comedic-Karaoke style!
My two faves are here and here.
